Definition of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
(PCI) Cohort
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) refers
to the placement in persons 18 years of age or older, of an angioplasty
guide wire, balloon, or other device (e.g. stent, atherectomy, brachytherapy,
or thrombectomy catheter) into a native coronary artery or coronary
artery bypass graft for the purpose of mechanical coronary revascularization.
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention can also mean Angioplasty or coronary
intervention for the purposes of the Massachusetts Cardiac Study.
