The Mass-DAC compassionate use criteria were developed by a committee of Massachusetts interventionalists to identify patients with a very high risk of mortality that could not be adequately identified using clinical elements collected in the ACC-NCDR data collection tool. The criteria included active cardiopulmonary resuscitation at initiation of the PCI, extreme anatomic risk, or coma which was not medication induced. Each year, the committee reviews and further defines the criteria to ensure that the variable is capturing the correct elevated risk factors for mortality.
