Physician Reporting Oversight Committee

The charge of this Committee is to review blinded summary data for all cardiac surgeons in Massachusetts. Such data include risk-standardized 30-day all-cause mortality incidence rates (SMIR), surgeon volume, surgeon complication rates, and other STS recommended process measures. For surgeons identified as having statistically significant higher than expected mortality, unblinded case fatality reports are also reviewed. Selection of Committee members is the responsibility of the current President of the Massachusetts Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS).
